After sending ‘save the date’ cards to the prospective guests of your wedding, you will then be in a position to formally invite them to your big day. This of course means sending out your wedding invitations, which you should have put plenty of thought into already when choosing the design and colour. Whereas in the past they would have been sent out three months prior to the wedding, many brides now opt to post them anything up to five months in advance. The enclosures you include with your wedding invitation are as important as the invitation itself. Read on for details on which enclosures you may wish to include.
Giving Directions
An ever-present enclosure with wedding invitations is direction cards, which details how the guests can find the wedding location, as well as giving them an idea as to where they can park their car. In some cases it could be that you will need to create more than one direction card due to hosting the wedding at two separate locations. You may even decide to tailor direction cards to each individual guest. These tend to be more applicable to guests that are coming from a long way away or that do not know the area.
Response Cards
The response card is probably the most important item to enclose with your wedding invitations. As and when the response cards have all been returned the couple than have a clear idea of how many guests will be attending. They can then move on to the next steps of arranging the wedding such as seating plans and catering details. People love weddings and those invited will do all they can to attend your big day; however there are usually some that can’t make it.
The Menu
The final enclosure that it really makes sense to include is the menu so that guests can inform you of which food they would like to eat. You can then let caters know the final numbers for each food option so that they can begin planning the finer details.
