I am having my engagement party in my yard, with a tent. My wedding will be fall themed so I kind of wanted to keep a similar theme for the engagement party. The party is in mid-october. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I should decorate? I don’t want to spend a lot of money! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! =)
My fiancee and I got engaged a few weeks ago and we really want to get married right away. If we had the money for everything, we would married next month. I decided we should get our finances in order during the next year and then begin planning our wedding. Is it a good idea to wait this long? Or is a short engagement better?
My bf and I were invited to an engagement party and we didn’t know that we were supposed to bring a gift. What kind of gift should it be? Is it really necessary to get an engagement gift, bridal shower gift, and wedding gift?
I was thinking about giving them a bottle of wine for the engagement party IF a bottle of wine is exceptable and IF it was necessary to bring a gift. In this economy, we don’t have a lot of money to spend.
Help…
My boyfriend and I are talking of marriage. We both graduate with our undergraduate degree by next december. We aren’t getting engaged till after we both graduate. I kinda would like to keep the excitement of moving in together until we are married….but it seems kinda silly to wast money on two rents and things like that, when you know your going to get married anyway. What do y’all think?
I don’t have a lot of money either, so I’m on a budget people!
My Mom (I am the bride) asked for a wedding album of pictures and even offered to pay for it. She helped with paying for part of the wedding so I wouldn’t take the money from her. My MIL didn’t help with anything towards the wedding and recently asked for an album. Would it be rude to ask her to pay for it or should we just buy one for her too? Thanks!
Your wedding rings represent the bond that is being created and completed between you and your significant other. The ring can be thought of as a representation of a never ending circle of love. Wedded couples keep their rings on their fingers to show everyone else that they are a part of a bond, a ring of love so deep that it cannot be broken. Since you will be wearing your wedding rings pretty much every hour of every day, it should be attractive to both you and your significant other. When selecting your wedding rings, you must consider cost, value, and style.
Don’t Go Cheap
Pick a store that is well-known for selling good quality jewelry to purchase your wedding rings. There are many jewelry stores that sell wedding rings that are a good price, but of low quality. Some wedding rings are so low quality that the diamonds will loosen and fall out of their settings. This is a more common occurrence than you think.
These stores will offer you a warranty for their wedding rings, which is great, but do you want to spend the rest of your life going back to the same jewelry store to replace lost diamonds? I don’t think so!
Choose a wedding jewelry store that will provide you with a wedding ring that will stay intact for long periods of time, and only need maintenance once in a blue moon. They will cost you more, but it is worth the money.
Let’s say you went the cheap route and purchased a ring from an inexpensive jewelry store. If you calculate the gas it will take you to travel back and forth from that jewelry store every month for ten or more years, it will all balance out. Add that to the aggravation you’ll experience, and the number of weeks you won’t have your rings because they are being serviced, you will actually lose money compared to the cost of selecting the right wedding rings from a reputable store.
Have the Ring Appraised by a Professional
Many wedding rings will have a higher price than what they are actually worth. This is how unscrupulous jewelry stores stay in business.
Don’t be afraid to bring your own jewelry appraiser into a store before making that purchase. You will pay for his time, but again, selecting the right wedding rings is well worth the cost involved.
Pick Rings that Go with Your Personal Style
When selecting the right wedding rings for you and your significant other, make your choice based on your personal styles and preferences. If you prefer simple and to the point, a basic silver or gold band will do. If you are more extravagant in your tastes, choose wedding rings with more accents, diamonds, and special engravings.
Selecting the right wedding rings takes time and good sense. Remember that these items will stay with you and your significant others for years to come, so be sure that you are getting the quality and style of wedding rings that you really want.

Have any of your friends married recently? Now would be a good time to have a chat with them, listening to their tips for wedding planning. They will be able to pinpoint the mistakes they made while planning, and you can learn from their experience.
Talking to any “wedding professional”, you will most probably be told one thing time and again: Start planning as early as possible. Simply drawing up a list will help, but there could still be a lot of smaller details you fail to note. Get a wedding planning worksheet from the internet, or go out and buy a wedding planning book.
Next on the list of essential tips for wedding planning concerns your budget: Before you are able to start forming a plan, never mind spending, you have to know what you can afford in total. You will have to break this down to include every little detail, and then stick with it. If you spend too much in one area, you will have to give up in another, and that is simply not an option.
Create a “complete by” schedule, and stick to it, no matter what. There will be times when you feel there is plenty of time left, or that small simple tasks feel senseless so long before the wedding. If leave it till later you will run into the same problems you were warned against (by people who took the same route).
Follow these tips for wedding planning, and plan carefully. A sensible plan will reduce your stress levels considerably, and you could even save some money, having allowed yourself more time to shop around.

Planning a wedding party is not like planning any other party. The amount of planning goes into it will boggle your mind. However, if a few important aspects of the planning process are kept in mind then, everything else will take care of itself. A wedding party should be fun and therefore must be planned well. Given below are a few aspects of planning a wedding party, which must be considered carefully.
The Budget
While planning a wedding party, the first thing you must do is set a budget. It is one of the most important aspects of planning a wedding, and once the budget is finalized you can get on to the other aspects of planning. If you have decided upon a low budget then you would have to plan a low key party, however if there are no limits to the budget than you can pull out all the stops. While figuring out the budget you must include the associated cost of anything and everything that is going to be a part of the wedding party right from invitations, to photography and from the cakes to the going away presents. Only then will you have a clear idea about the kind of money you can spend on the wedding party.
The Number of Guests
This is the tricky part. This is because the number of guests that are a part of your wedding party will decide the major part of the expense of your party. Have a rounded off figure that you can offer to the sales person of the party hall or garden where you are going to host the party. Try and give the maximum figure, which you can prune down at a later time. Most party halls or gardens etc, charge by “the head’ and thus the number of guests that you are going to invite for your party are going to be very critical.
The Party Theme
If you want you can even plan a theme for the party. For e.g. you could call it a dinner ‘n’ dance party and thus decorate the venue and plan the party accordingly. Or else you could plan the party according to a particular theme like ‘summer’ ‘Rain’, or even ‘Snow’. You could then ask people who are invited to the wedding party to don specific clothing and also organize various events centered on the particular theme. You can also keep a simple party that has no theme attached to it, and it’s only about having fun and congratulating the wedded couple.
The Menu
It is a fact that one of the biggest attractions of any party is the menu. People might forget anything and everything associated with the party but they will never forget the kind of food that was served at the wedding party. Make sure that there is delicious food on the menu and that it caters to all kinds of tastes. You can offer your guests a myriad of choices ranging from Indian, Continental, and Chinese etc. You might also want to serve non-vegetarian dishes to your guests; however, this decision has to be taken with care. You might have invited guests who wouldn’t like the fact that non-vegetarian dishes are being served along with vegetarian food.
Don’t leave it all for the Party Planner
These days one can hire party planners who have an expertise in planning parties. You can just give them a fair idea of what you want and they will do everything else for you. However, it’s important that even if you hire such people, you become a part of the planning process. Your contribution will give a personal touch to the party and moreover, you can know for certain whether all that you have asked to be planned is in order or not.
