The Different Kinds Of Wedding Ring Sets

  • The most popular kind is the classical ring with a single diamond and a similar ring with a channel of set diamonds.
  • Gold weddings ring sets are the easiest and the cheapest. The yellow gold could give that warm feeling to the occasion. For the purpose of durability, try picking up a 14 or a 19 carat gold ring set. The 24 carat sets would be much more pure but would be also very prone to scratches.
  • Platinum wedding ring sets are much more expensive than gold ones. These rings have a shrill white look and are very durable. The metal is pure and does not come mixed with any other metal. Ring bearers often steal the show at weddings. After all, not many people can resist a cute little boy or girl solemnly walking down the aisle. But ring bearers are not just there to increase the cuteness quotient of a wedding. They also perform an important symbolic role. The practice of having a ring bearer dates back to Queen Victoria’s reign and then, as now, the ring bearer carried the rings that the bride and groom exchange as symbols of their everlasting love.

Typically the ring bearer is a boy, aged between four and eight, who is closely related to the bride or the groom. A child younger than four may get a bit scared, bored, or tired by the proceedings so it is advisable to go for a ring bearer who is at least four. Ring bearers are usually the younger siblings, nephews or cousins. It can even be the son of a close friend.

While tradition demands that a boy be the ring bearer, there is no reason why you shouldn’t ask a little girl to be the ring bearer for you if you so desire. Also, while most weddings have just one ring bearer, if there are two little boys both of whom you wish to involve in the ceremony, it is perfectly ok to have two ring bearers, each bearing one ring.

The role of the ring bearer is quite simple. It is his job to carry the rings, usually on a ring cushion. If the child is very young, it is ok for him to carry faux rings while the real rings are held carefully by the Maid of Honor and the Best Man. The ring bearer normally walks ahead of the flower girl or just behind her. However, if you find that your ring bearer and flower girl would be more comfortable walking side by side that is acceptable as well.

Once you have chosen your ring bearer, explain to him what he has to do and why you want him to do it. This can be done by you or by the ring bearer’s parents. Young kids love attention but can be taken back by large crowds so make sure you let him know that there will be a lot of people. A good way to get your ring bearer comfortable with his role is to involve him in the rehearsals. If your ring bearer is old enough, you may also want to consider buying him a book that explains his role to him. That will also get him excited about the big day.

Once the ceremony has started, your ring bearer does not have to stand for the rest of the ceremony. In fact, it would be unreasonable to expect him to do so. Instead ask his parents to sit near the front so that he can go sit with them and then re-join you during the recession after the ceremony is over. Also designate someone (a groomsman would be perfect) to keep an eye on him before the ceremony starts and during the ceremony. Also, ask his parents to bring a change of clothes just in case he decides that he’s had enough of his formal clothes.

Hopefully these insights will help your ring bearer and wedding attendees prepare for this special day. Any means to help the bride and groom get through their wedding ceremony without a glitch, will make that much more memorable.
