When planning your wedding evening entertainment, you need a top class live band who can keep your guests dancing to their favourite songs all night long. You’ve had a long day to organize from hairdressers to florists, from church to hotel, from photographer to food. Wouldn’t it be good to be able to relax after the end of your wedding breakfast and not to have to then organize the evening as well.

I have heard many tales of woe from brides who were married in the north east area where the only entertainment booked has been a DJ, often no more than one of the hotel staff with virtually no training or experience, put behind the built in antique disco console with a small collection of tired 80s disco hits. Needless to say, the majority of the guests have sneaked away as soon as the buffet has been served and left the Bride and Groom with an empty room and a very sad end to their day. It’s no good at this point wishing they’d spent a few hundred pounds extra – often no more than the cost of the cake which has not been touched – on an experienced live band to provide some first class professional entertainment for the evening.

There are some excellent professional wedding bands serving all the north east including Darlington, Newcastle, Durham and Teesside and of course some not so good!

So, what kind of band would you look for? Here are my tips for finding the right band for your event.

First and foremost you need to remember that you will have 3 or 4 generations represented among your guests and you need a band who can entertain them all. Avoid “club and pub” bands who tend to only play heavy rock. You may have had a great time after a few drinks but how would your mum and dad like them? Much better is to seek out a band that has performed for a lot of different kinds of function and will therefore have a much broader repertoire of songs.

Second, always ask what the band will wear. If you and your guests have spent a small fortune on new clothes, do you really want a bunch of guys in tee shirts and jeans traipsing into your wedding?

Third, how loud will they be? Can they perform at a lower volume if the venue is small, and, for that matter, can they make enough noise to fill a huge marquee?

Fourthly, will you get the band you think you booked. Some bands can’t resist taking on every booking offered to them which means that on your special night you could see a bunch of “deps” introducing themselves to each other and trying to sort out what songs they can all play! Try to book a band that only accepts one booking per day.

Probably the most important question is can you trust the band to organise your evening entertainment so that it works well for you and not just for them, Will they bring recorded music for their intervals or will your guests be left sitting in silence, and will they perform for sufficient time to justify the expense.

The best way to find a great band is to search Google or other good search engines for wedding bands in your area, perhaps searching for “wedding bands north east” and check out the bands’ websites. A good band will generally have a good informative website, and remember, if their website is dull they probably will be too!

Above all, remember a good live band will make your evening and will always be preferable to just a DJ, and considering that the cost will no doubt be a small fraction of the overall cost of your wedding it could turn out to be your best investment.

There are many different and serious considerations for couples as they plan their wedding and reception. Among these is a need to create a seating chart to keep friends and family members who might fight apart and to keep couples seated together. Having printed place cards and putting them in placecard holders at each seat is the easiest way to assure that guests will adhere to the seating chart.

Place card holders have many different uses at the reception. They are usually small and inexpensive, yet they can be part of the decoration in the reception and be given as wedding favors to the guests as thank you gifts. Many different designs of place card holders are available from which couples can choose. They may have a difficult time deciding on the design they prefer to have at their reception.

Placecard holders are available to fit in with any theme chosen by the couple for their wedding and reception. They are usually small and unobtrusive items that will disappear into the background to serve a vital purpose. Place cards not only separate those friends and family members that might cause problems at the reception, they also help to establish a hierarchy at the tables and keep couples seated together instead of being separated by singles who did not know where to sit.

Place card holders are absolutely needed at each place setting. The reason is that it would not be sanitary of acceptable to put the place cards directly on the plates. These cards have been handled so many times during their travels from the paper mill to the printer to the table that placing them on the plates at each place is a very bad idea.

Placecard holders can be found in a variety of different stores that serve those looking to have a formal dinner or a banquet. The best places to locate them for use at a wedding reception is at online stores dealing in wedding supplies. The reason is that online stores offer a much wider selection from which couples can choose at lower prices than can be found at local stores due to the differences in overhead and competition levels.

Place card holders are a very important item when planning a wedding. Place cards help to keep those friends and family members who might cause problems apart while ensuring that those who come as couples are allowed to sit together. Place card holders can also be given to the guests as favors in gratitude for their coming.

When couples plan a wedding, they have to consider many different things. Among the serious considerations is the need to create a seating chart so that family members and friends know where they will be placed during the reception. One of the purposes of this chart is keeping individuals who are friends and family of the bride or the groom apart from other friends and family members they are not able to get along with. Having printed place cards and using place card holders to mark each seat is the easiest way to ensure the guests adhere to the seating chart.

Placecard holders are very versatile items at the reception. They are generally small and inexpensive, yet many are pretty enough to be considered appropriate for giving as thank you gifts or favors to the guests. There are many different designs of placecard holders available from which to choose. Couples may have a difficult time deciding on which they prefer to use.

One of the key elements of place card holders is the ability to choose some that will fit in with the theme used to design the décor for the wedding reception. They become unobtrusive pieces of the background, serve a vital purpose. Place cards are not only for separating potentially rowdy friends and family members, they help to establish a hierarchy at the tables so that every guest knows where they are to sit in relation to others. It would be awkward if couples were unable to find places to sit during the reception because singles took up the spaces and did not leave two seats together.

Placecard holders are a necessary part of the seating arrangements because it would not be acceptable to simply lay the place cards in each individual plate. The unknown amount of handling that the place cards have been through from the paper mill to the finished card at the table makes placing them on the plates an unsanitary action that might interfere with some people’s appetites.

Place card holders can be purchased at any shop that caters to formal parties and banquets. The best locations to find place card holders are probably online stores however. The reason is that online stores will almost always have a wider selection from which to choose than local stores. This will make it easier to match the décor of the reception site and still incorporate some of the personality of the couple in the choices they make of place card holders. Online stores generally offer lower prices as well when compared to local stores. The reason is that online stores face a lot more competition and have lower overhead than local stores.

Placecard holders are very important in the grand scheme of planning a wedding and reception. The cards they hold help to separate friends and family that do not get along well. They also assure all couples will have a place to sit together at the tables. Placecard holders can also be given as favors to the guests to thank them for coming.

I’m getting ready for my wedding in six months, and was wondering, has anyone heard of this "first-time bride free-for-all"? It’s a program where your wedding planner provides the invitations, dress, bridesmaid dresses, tuxedos, food, the wedding cake, reception hall, music, all of that stuff, and they provide it all for free since it is your first wedding. My friend told me about it last night, and I have been searching the web all day, and can not find it. Can anyone please direct me on where to go to find this? Your help will be much appreciated.

You want your wedding ceremony to be perfect, and the reception that follows to be fabulous, but how do you achieve that dream idea? A lot of it starts with your wedding location.

First, you will want to find venues that are suitable to your wedding theme, if you have one. Holding your reception at a seafood restaurant would be out of place for a Christmas or western themed wedding for obvious reasons. However, don’t get stuck on this idea either. If your theme is “Rock and Roll” you can still have your ceremony in a quaint church and use subtle decorations to convey the theme. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you scout around looking for that perfect location.

  • Start by taking a drive around the town jotting down ideas as you pass by possible venues.
  • Take your time when looking for a good location for the ceremony and/or reception. Don’t rush in and book the first place you visit. Search out 2 or 3 different locations and then do a comparison of the sites (this applies to both the ceremony location and the reception location.) In some cases, you may not be able to book the date you’ve chosen to be married on and will need an alternative choice. It’s always good to have options.
  • Take a checklist of questions that you want answered when you go so you can be sure you’ll be able to find a place that will provide exactly what you want and need.
  • Ask family, friends, co-workers… even strangers on the bus, if they know of any good locations. You may be pleasantly surprised at some of the inspired answers you could receive of spots you would never have thought of.
  • Call and make appointments to tour your top three picks. Don’t commit to anything during your first visit. Your first visit should be to get a good visual of the location, as well as have all of your questions answered regarding the venue.
  • Take notes wherever you go. Jot down impressions of when you first enter the area, note how you were treated – was the person helpful or did you have to stand around waiting to be noticed? That’s a pretty good indication of how they’ll handle the wedding services.
  • Make sure to look at available parking in the area, plus wheelchair access (if it might be needed) into the building. How large is the entrance and is there room out front for people to stand when the bridal party exits? Can a limousine or several cars park out front for the bridal party?
  • Bring an instant Polaroid or digital camera with you and take pictures of the outside of the building and surrounding area, including the parking lot and entrance. Take pictures of the inside as well, including the entrance hall, the altar area, pews, and rooms that can be used for getting ready just before the ceremony. These will help you to recall what each place looked like once you get home. When checking out several locations they can start to blur together. Also, you will notice things in the pictures that you may not have noticed on your visual tour.

The above tips should help to get you started in the right direction. Obviously, there is a lot more involved in choosing a special place to hold your wedding ceremony and reception than can be discussed in a short article. If you are looking for more advice on how to plan a great wedding, while keeping your expenses in check, you can find some great wedding planning e-books on the Internet that will guide you step-by-step through the whole process.

The food is one of the highlights of a wedding reception. To help showcase the special dishes that you have selected, consider designing menu cards for the reception tables. Placed at each setting, and artfully displayed, the menu cards can help your guests to enjoy their dinner even more.

A menu card should give guests an idea of what to expect as the meal proceeds. It also helps to let the guests know how many courses to expect (as in, a five course dinner – better not fill up on the early courses, or you won’t have room left for cake!). Keep the language fairly simple; if your entire menu is in French, it might look pretty, but it won’t do your guests much good if they cannot read it.

Some guests with dietary restrictions can also use the details of the menu to help them know which courses are best for them. For instance, a vegetarian guest who sees that beef is to be served as the main course will be forewarned to fill up on soup and salad. In addition, if you are serving dishes with any common allergens, it would be nice to put that information in the title of the dish, when possible. In other words, “couscous with pinenuts” instead of just “couscous”.

The design of your menu cards should complement the rest of your wedding. If you are having a very fancy evening wedding, with the bride in a cathedral length veil and dazzling crystal bridal jewelry, your menu cards should also be incredibly glamorous. A very stylish look would be to have crystal embellished menu card stands to echo the elegance of the bridal gown and jewelry.

Another way to display a wedding menu with panache is to put it in a frame. A beautiful picture frame can be chosen that fits in with the rest of the wedding design, anything from classic silver to beachy rattan would be great. The frame can then double as the wedding favors. A really fun idea would be to have a photographer on hand who can take and print photos that the guests can put into the frames as a memento from your wedding.

One of the most classic ways to display wedding menus is to lay them on the place settings. A heavy ivory card stock with a gold border would be ideal for a formal wedding when engraved in black ink. For a spring afternoon wedding, choose a more lighthearted stationary in a pastel color with an organza bow on the top. If your wedding will take place by the ocean, anchor each menu card with a seashell. There are infinite variations to fit with any wedding theme.

Flowers are a beautiful part of any wedding, and they can also be used with your menu cards. Rather than setting the napkins to the left of the plates, they can be placed directly onto the plates with a fold in the bottom third. The menu card gets slipped into the fold, and a single flower is set on top of the card to make it even lovelier. This is a simple idea that always looks wonderful.

A wedding is something that has to be planned with lots of fore thought and arrangements. Though it may seem that the wedding planning is a hectic and tedious process, if you stay calm and keep yourself organized, you find that the planning of the wedding is not that hard.

The most important part of the wedding planning is choosing the date for the wedding ceremony and reception. Choose a date that is okay for both of you. Once the date is fixed, the venue or location of the wedding has to be decided on. You can hold the wedding ceremony and reception either in different places or in a single place. If you have a special place in mind for your wedding, you may have to be flexible weight your wedding date as you may not find your venue available on the stipulated date.

Once the date and venue is decided, you have to plan the actual wedding ceremony. When you plan your wedding, make sure it reflects your personality as a couple. Many people plan weddings that are out of the box; by imitating other’s wedding ceremonies. It is not necessary to have a big theme wedding; what is important is to incorporate your interests and priorities in the ceremony and wedding reception.

When you plan your wedding, make sure that you budget it with care as the wedding industry is always on the lookout to make a profit. This is why you will be tempted into spending money on things that you don’t need and is available for a lower rate elsewhere. Planning in advance helps in avoiding budget headaches; so shop around for the items that are found affordably, for your wedding.

It is not necessary to plan a big and fancy reception if you can’t afford it. The size and expense for the wedding is not important, it is the music, readings and wedding vows at the ceremony that is important. If you plan to have an outdoor wedding, make sure that you have alternate plans for the wedding, in case you get rained out on the wedding day. Let someone else have a list of the phone numbers of wedding vendors in case they don’t come up on time for the wedding.

Though the bride is the person responsible for most of the wedding planning; this does not imply that the groom need not be involved. Remember that a wedding is a partnership; so start the partnership by planning the wedding together. Discuss details of the wedding, and your individual preferences and make compromises if you have different views.

We’re looking for unique places to have a wedding in Southeastern Wisconsin. Probably an outdoor wedding somewhere, although I’d like a backup plan within the same venue if possible. The reception can be at the same place as the wedding or another venue but we’re looking for a building with character! A historic building or something along those lines rather than a banquet hall with an ugly pull out wall to separate 2 rooms!
We’ve looked at the Kemper Center in Racine and the Dekoven Center in Kenosha but wanted to make sure we weren’t missing any other hidden gems! We’re leaning on Racine or Kenosha counties rather than somewhere in Milwaukee.

My fiance and I have to pay for our own wedding, so we’re planning on doing an all-inclusive caribbean wedding that includes the actual ceremony if we stay 7 nights. So we can afford that. But we also want to celebrate when we return to the states with our family and friends, but we’re finding that the wedding receptions are the part that’s the most expensive. With about 80 guests, we need something we can do that’s under ,000, but not a cheap-o kegger. Any ideas?

When your guests come into the reception hall they will all be really concerned about talking to one another and may not be wondering where their seats are because they really aren’t paying attention. So, you need some great place card holders to be sitting on the tables at every single seat so that they can capture the attention of your guests and draw them to their seats that they will have during your wedding celebration. It is important to keep your theme and color scheme in mind when choosing place card holders because these can really become functional pieces of décor on the tables because you can use them to enhance your theme or add some much needed color.

Gold is a really elegant color that has an air of sophistication. So, if you are having a kind of classic style wedding or a wedding with rich colors that gold will accent very nicely then there are a few great examples of place card holders for you. Gold will really impress your guests and I bet that it can help to bring all of your decorations together into a single idea that will really make you look like an amazing interior designer who planned all the greatest wedding decorations possible. Another amazing feature of these is that they are not only decorations and practical pieces in your wedding reception but they can also serve as favors for each and every guest to take home with them, especially if you make the cards really personal or with a specific message for each and every individual guest to show them all how much they mean to you and how happy you are that they could share your special day with you and support all your decisions.

Golden Angel Card Holder:

The base of this place card holder is in the form of a cute little cherub. This place card holder really has an air of innocence that will make everyone at your wedding appreciate it a lot when they see it sitting on the wedding table looking adorable and still elegant because of its divine color.
