Is the engagement ring the one with the diamond and then you get a band when you get married? Or do you get an engagement ring then stop wearing it to wear the wedding ring when you get the wedding ring?
I am engaged and I have an engagement ring. I do not like the way it looks with a band against it. Do I just use it as my wedding ring or do I get a new ring. All of the rings I like are labeled engagement and not wedding. What is the difference? Does it matter? Am I supposed to get a ring with a band because I do not like hardly any of those. Please do not just tell me to do whatever I want. I want to know the difference. Thank you.
My boyfriend and I decided to get marry next month nothing big but the sooner the better. I have no idea what the rules about the rings are. Is he suppose to buy me an engagement ring and then a wedding ring or can you buy them as a pair and just wear one until you’re marry or do you need to have an engagement ring and buy a separate one to get married. Help!

I am not talking every now and again, but how many women do you think always wear their engagement ring along with their wedding ring?
I know my mother only wore her engagement ring when going out and what not, and wore her wedding ring other rise.
Do all women wear both or was my family just a-typical?
After the guy proposes does the couple go and find the guys’ ring together or does the woman go by herself and show him at the alter?
And what is the difference between an engagement ring and a wedding ring? Would you buy an engagement ring, she wears it during the time they are finances, and then he purchases a "wedding" ring?….
Your wedding rings represent the bond that is being created and completed between you and your significant other. The ring can be thought of as a representation of a never ending circle of love. Wedded couples keep their rings on their fingers to show everyone else that they are a part of a bond, a ring of love so deep that it cannot be broken. Since you will be wearing your wedding rings pretty much every hour of every day, it should be attractive to both you and your significant other. When selecting your wedding rings, you must consider cost, value, and style.
Don’t Go Cheap
Pick a store that is well-known for selling good quality jewelry to purchase your wedding rings. There are many jewelry stores that sell wedding rings that are a good price, but of low quality. Some wedding rings are so low quality that the diamonds will loosen and fall out of their settings. This is a more common occurrence than you think.
These stores will offer you a warranty for their wedding rings, which is great, but do you want to spend the rest of your life going back to the same jewelry store to replace lost diamonds? I don’t think so!
Choose a wedding jewelry store that will provide you with a wedding ring that will stay intact for long periods of time, and only need maintenance once in a blue moon. They will cost you more, but it is worth the money.
Let’s say you went the cheap route and purchased a ring from an inexpensive jewelry store. If you calculate the gas it will take you to travel back and forth from that jewelry store every month for ten or more years, it will all balance out. Add that to the aggravation you’ll experience, and the number of weeks you won’t have your rings because they are being serviced, you will actually lose money compared to the cost of selecting the right wedding rings from a reputable store.
Have the Ring Appraised by a Professional
Many wedding rings will have a higher price than what they are actually worth. This is how unscrupulous jewelry stores stay in business.
Don’t be afraid to bring your own jewelry appraiser into a store before making that purchase. You will pay for his time, but again, selecting the right wedding rings is well worth the cost involved.
Pick Rings that Go with Your Personal Style
When selecting the right wedding rings for you and your significant other, make your choice based on your personal styles and preferences. If you prefer simple and to the point, a basic silver or gold band will do. If you are more extravagant in your tastes, choose wedding rings with more accents, diamonds, and special engravings.
Selecting the right wedding rings takes time and good sense. Remember that these items will stay with you and your significant others for years to come, so be sure that you are getting the quality and style of wedding rings that you really want.

Your wedding rings are symbols of your commitment and love. You’re also going to be looking at them a lot and wearing them for years. Here are some tips for your search for wedding rings:
Tip #1: Don’t Delay. Start window shopping and browsing right away. You might think you know what you want. But when you see all the beautiful styles out there, you might change your mind. You need some time to see what’s out there and decide on what you really want. Once you have zeroed in on “the one” be sure to visit it a couple times to make sure it feels right before you go for the final purchase. Don’t buy the first ring you see. You want to feel like you’ve looked around and you’re confident in your final choice. No regrets.
Tip #2: How Much Can You Afford? The old rule of thumb for how much a man would spend on an engagement ring used to be one month of his salary. Many times the engagement ring was part of a set that later joined together and became the bride’s wedding band. Gold bands are very popular and inexpensive. Average price is around $300. If you’re eyeing platinum, you’re looking at more like $1000. Precious gemstones or diamonds will add quite a bit. The main point is to discuss your budget with your future spouse so that you both have the same expectations. The bride may have high hopes for an expensive ring set that the groom cannot afford. Remember, there’s always the 5 or 10 year anniversary to get lots of diamonds if that’s what you require.
Tip #3: Think About Shape and Style. If you’re very active with your hands, you might not want pointy edges or a center stone that sticks out too far. It might get caught on clothing. You might go for a simple band or a center stone that is recessed in. Stones and intricate designs will trap dirt and you’ll be cleaning your ring every few days if you want to maximize its sparkle. If you are allergic to some gold alloy rings, you can consider platinum as it is hypoallergenic. Simple, classic looks will stand the test of time. Unusual gemstones or designs may go out of style quickly.
Tip #4: Look on the Inside. If you’re purchasing an 18K gold ring, you’ll want to see 18K stamped somewhere on the inside of your ring. Platinum rings are stamped PLAT. Designer rings also usually have a manufacturer’s mark. This is a good sign that you have a reputable jewelry manufacturer. If you’re considering having the inside of your rings engraved, take a look at how much room inside you have and how long of a message you can have engraved. At the bare minimum go for the wedding date so you don’t forget your anniversary!
Tip #5: Proper Sizing. Try to do your final ring fitting in the afternoon. You want your body temperature to be normal. You don’t want to be feeling cold or feel hot or sweaty. If you have a ring with a simple band or an area where part of the band is smooth, you can get it re-sized at a later date if you lose or gain weight. The final weeks of any pregnancies will cause you to retain water and you may even have to just take your wedding ring off for a few weeks for comfort. Some specialty rings may have diamonds or a design all the way around. The fitting for this kind of ring is extremely critical. Usually, you would see a sample ring, get fitted to a certain size, and then your special ring gets made to this size. There is no wiggle room for resizing.
Don’t be overwhelmed with the ring shopping. You’ll have many fun afternoons with your beloved shopping, walking and talking. This should be a fun, exciting time. Don’t get stressed. The right ring will almost speak to you when you see it and you’ll know it’s the one.

The circular shape of your vintage wedding ring is a symbol of eternity and the lasting commitment that two people make to be with each other. Many customs actually view the giving of the wedding ring as the last in a number of gifts given to each partner. Some people have replaced this older custom with a more modern version where an ‘eternity’ ring is given to symbolize an everlasting marriage.
It is now becoming more popular to have wedding rings engraved so if you and your partner are buying matching vintage wedding rings, why not have them both engraved with a message personal to you both just to give them that unique feel. If you think the ring is too plain for you, then you could consider a beaded edge or an engraved style. Choosing your wedding ring is a personal thing so as long as you both agree, whatever you choose will be right.
You must never forget how important your vintage wedding ring and do not treat it like another piece of jewelry as it will not often leave your finger. Irrespective of the design of vintage wedding rings you finally decide on, do not accept anything but the highest quality. For something as important as your marriage, the vintage wedding rings you purchase should not be the ones you found at the lowest price because it makes a mockery of your vows and the meaning of the wedding rings.
Your expensive Vintage Wedding Rings should also fit perfectly so do not accept anything less as when you come to place them on each others fingers on the wedding day you may find they no longer look as good. To make sure your vintage wedding rings fit perfectly you will need the services of a professional jeweler to measure you and your partner’s fingers, which is something you can’t do over the internet. The last thing you want to happen is that the wedding rings are too tight and won’t go on, or so loose they won’t stay on the finger. Therefore it is important that you allow the jeweler enough time to complete your wedding ring order by your wedding day. Be sure that you go looking for your vintage wedding rings a few months before your wedding so the rings will be ready for your big day.
Don’t forget there is now more choice of styles for your vintage wedding rings that it may take you a while to choose. Both you and your partner should follow your instincts on your choice of vintage wedding rings while remembering that what looks good today might not be quite as fashionable in a few years time. The most important thing to remember is that your vintage wedding rings are symbolic of your everlasting love. This type of life changing statement means you should buy wedding rings that reflect this and that you will feel proud to wear.

An exciting moment when you have decided to spend the rest of your life with someone, and your wedding ring becomes even more important if you think about what it means. A wedding ring is meant to incorporate the circle of life and the never ending love for your significant other.
Before deciding on a style or size of wedding ring, be sure to set a budget, you don’t want to be looking at rings that you just can’t afford. It’s okay to going into debt for your wedding ring, but make sure it’s reasonable. Remember, a wedding ring is a constant reminder of the one you want to spend your life with.
Once you have set a budget for your wedding rings, it’s important to take in your lifestyle. A wedding ring that is to bold or sticks up high on your finger, can not only be irritating but also actually dangerous. You want a setting that will fit in with what you do in your world; construction workers, blue collar workers, and others that work with their hands do not need something to catch on machinery and take their finger with it. Choosing style is the second most important thing when deciding on a wedding ring.
Whether you’ve decided on diamonds or another stone, purchase the highest quality stone you can afford. It’s more important to have quality in a stone, that it is size. You’ll want to look for flaws, color and clarity in the stone and make sure that it is something that will continue to increase in value. Purchasing a larger, but poor quality stone will not increase in value and can actually break the stone through hard wear. So choose the stone within your budget and that is the best quality.
Now you’ve chosen a budget, a setting and the stone it’s time to choose a jeweler. The jeweler becomes very important because the setting of the stone needs to be durable. You may choose a jeweler that has a good reputation and then purchase a maintenance plan along with your wedding ring. A maintenance plan will allow you to take the ring in several times a year to have it cleaned and have the setting checked to make sure that you won’t you lose the stone.
Whether you’ve chosen a wedding ring set or are just looking for the wedding ring, you want them to match. Choose a wedding ring that matches with the engagement ring and fits comfortably on your hand. An ill-fitting set can not only be uncomfortable, but can actually damage each ring
Remember when it comes to choosing your wedding ring that you’re choosing something that is not only for your lifetime, but that can possibly be handed down through the generations. Choose the best quality ring you can afford and don’t go over your budget. Make sure that it’s a quality stone and purchased from a quality jeweler that will maintain your wedding ring setting.
