A wedding ring normally has a stone set into it (sticks up and has a higher profile) while a wedding band is usually a simpler plain band or ring with the stone sitting flush with the metal.

The stones are almost always diamond in a gold, silver, or platinum setting but I think the most important thing is to make sure you love the ring as you will be wearing it for the rest of your life.

My best friend's husband gave her a sapphire stone set in black hills gold and it is perfect for her since her favorite color is blue and she loves the multiple color tones found in black hills gold. It reflects her personality and style.

You can tell the difference between a "wedding" ring and a "normal" ring by its location. Many ancient cultures believed a vein in the ring finger of the left hand traveled directly to the heart.

I hope this has helped.

The "band" is a shock collar that goes around your neck, so that your wife can better control you.

Wedding ring is for the lady :D

Wedding band is for the gentleman :D

Seriously speaking though, wedding rings/bands are whatever you want to pick. My fiancee and I are trying to decide between black hills gold wedding ring/band set and a 24k yellow gold set that has a princess cut diamond for my wedding ring inlaid into the band instead of prong style because to me they look too big and easy to break.

When you pick out your wedding set, it should be about what you and your soon to be spouse want to have. I have a friend who's wedding ring is a black hills gold band with no jewels in it and her husband's band is very plain but 24k yellow gold so it's really up to your individual tastes and wants.

The wedding ring is whatever ring or rings you wear to signify that you are married. A wedding band is simply a type of wedding ring. It is a band (and it can have stones set down into it) as opposed to a ring that has an extension with a stone(s). Often women wear an engagement ring (like a diamond solitaire although many styles and stones may be worn) and a wedding band. Some women don't have the engagement ring and just have a band. It's a totally personal choice. Rings are made of yellow gold, white gold, rose gold or platinum because these metals are the sturdiest.
