My engagement ring is a 2 carat round brilliant solitaire set in a classic white gold 6 prong Tiffany setting. What kind of band would look good with it?
Would an eternity band be too much?

I definitely would not take away from the focus on the main diamond and I think you are right on track with something simple for the wedding band. Go with either an eternity band or the band with diamonds only halfway around like the other poster said. She had a REALLY good point about sizing issues regarding the eternity band.
Another option……is to do a band on either side of the ring….to balance it out…for those of us with OCD and need to have things symmetrical. hahaha

I think your idea of an eternity band is right on target…it would look very lovely.

It’s much better and classic to go with a plain white gold band, in the same width as the engagement ring.

personally I think an eternity band would be wasted next to an engagement ring, because chances are you’ll have them soldered together so they don’t slip around your finger. so you’re only gonna see the diamonds on the top of that eternity ring for eternity anyway! 2c is a GOOD sized ring, congrats, and a band with more diamonds next to it may make it look huge on your hand depending on how much space you have on your knuckle on that finger. I’d try to find a band the same width as the engagement setting with a row of channel set diamonds.

I LOVE eternity bands… and I wanted one, but there is a lot you should know about an eternity band. I was told by many people, including my cousin that got one and wishes she didn’t… that they are beautiful… but may not be practical for you. The do scratch things, since the diamonds are all the way around, and if you gain / loose weight, they can’t be sized without loosing diamonds for gold. They would just add a gold spacing. Instead, I did a rind with diamonds set in 1/2 way around. I still have the eternity band look, without damaging things and if I loose/gain weight, the band can be altered underneath. Plus, you are paying for all those diamonds that you don’t see, they are underneath your hand. I think that would be a beautiful idea though… and I still think they are so pretty. My engagement ring is a 1/2 bezel .78 carat round with a plain thick band, and then my wedding band is what i said before, and I love it! I have a bunch of friends that ended up making the same decision I did, for the same reasons. Good luck and just do what you want.

I have a 1 carat round brilliant solitaire set in yellow gold with a 4 prong platinum setting. I have a channel set diamond band.
Take a look; I love the way my rings look together.

it may be, have you tried on some rings next to yours? a’normal’ band, an eternity band (maybe go for half like suggested above) and chanel set bands.
then you can make an informed decision
