A promise ring is typically a symbol of devotion to one person. It shows the person you give it to that you are no longer interested in having multiple partners, flirts, boos, ect. and that you want to take things to the next level and get involved in a commuted relationship, if not already in one. An engagement ring explains it self. It is a ring given to a person, usually a women, when they are asked by another to accept their hand in marriage. The women wears and flaunts the ring, allowing others to know she is planning to get married.
Promise rings are commonly given amongst teenage partners and they can be as ordinary as rings from vending machines.

A promise ring is usually less expensive and is given to a girl when you know you want to pop the question in the future.

a promise ring means he promises to only be with u, an engagement ring means he promises to be with u the rest of his life.

Promise rings are typically given by teenagers. It’s a promise to stay together. They are usually just silver or some cheaper form and do not have rare jewels/ gems in them.
An engagement ring signifies that there is going to be a wedding. Typically a nicer ring.

The size of the diamond. Promise rings are much smaller.
I don’t know what you do with a promise ring when you get an engagement ring, but I think I would make it into a baby ring, if I had a little girl. Or maybe a charm.

A promise ring is a ring given to someone to get the other person off of their back about marriage. Seriously tacky and for immature people.

A promise ring is a gift that symbolizes a promise, typically a promise to be true or to stay together forever. It has nothing to do with marriage.
An engagement ring is a gift that symbolizes a commitment to be married in the near future.

Well, an engagement ring means something and a promise ring does not. I’ve always felt that promise rings are basically given by teenagers because girls want jewelry. Most people I know have never given or received a promise ring. And the ones that I do know who received one, ended up breaking up with their boyfriends their freshman year of college anyway. It doesn’t really mean commitment, it just means "I bought this for you".

I think there is no any difference between promise and engagement ring. Because the promise can be broken and the engagement ring also can be abondoned. Just believe yourself and treat yourself well.
