Where do you put the engagement ring during the ceremony?

When getting married, where do you put the engagement ring during the ceremony? Do you wear it on your left ring finger during the ceremony? Leave it at home? Put it on your right hand??

During my ceremony, I moved it to my R hand. To be honest I doubt anyone noticed. I moved it back subtly immediately after the ceremony, so when all the "congratulations" hugs came they saw both on the one hand.

I’ll move it from my left hand to my right hand just before the ceremony…then put it over my wedding band once the ceremony has finished : )

Far better to keep it safe on your finger than put it anywhere else!

Most women leave the engagement ring on their left hand. The wedding ring is placed over it. They can switch them around after the ceremony if they want to. Do whatever you want, not what other people tell you that you should do. There are no laws or rules on what should be done or avoided.

There are women who insist that you must move the engagement ring to the right ring finger during the ceremony, but they clearly have the rarity of having both ring fingers be the same size. For most women, their ring fingers are different sizes so that can’t be done without the ring accidentally falling off and getting lost.

He gave it to you, let him take it off during the ceremony just before he puts the band on. Then he puts the e-ring back on.

I gave my engagement ring to my husband right before our ceremony so that he could put it together with my wedding ring. Then, he put both rings on my left finger during our ring exchange.
I have also seen many people wear their ring on their right hand, though. This is also perfectly acceptable. It is really up to you what you would like to do. I don’t think that their is really a right or a wrong answer here.

You put the engagement ring on your RIGHT hand ring finger during the ceremony. Because WEDDING ring goes closest to heart (on the inside). Then before the reception you move engagement ring to left hand.

  7. ?The Mrs.? Says:

I just put mine on my right ring finger

You can wear it, and then when he places the ring on your hand he adds the wedding band to it, or you can give it to him before the ceremony and then have him place both rings on you at once.

NO don’t leave it at home! because at the reception everyone is going to want to see your e-ring together with the wedding band on your finger! just wear your e-ring on your right hand during the ceremony, then after you walk out of the church, put on your left hand with the wedding band.
